Ordering Online

Over the years, online ordering has become easier and more secure. However, you still need to be aware that there are still sites out there with the sole purpose of stealing your credit card number, or charging you too much for a product. The following steps will help you …

  1. Always use a credit card. If there is a fradulent charge, you can have your credit card company remove it. Always check your credit card statements each month.
  2. Ask your credit card company for single use number. Many credit card companies now provide single use numbers that link back to your credit card. If a company tries to charge this number more than one time, they will be unable to.
  3. Keep a copy of your online receipt. Be aware of the estimated shipping time and call or email the company if the product takes to long to be shipped to you.
  4. Keep a copy of the packing slip. Many companies today use a fulfillment company to ship their goods. Information on the packing slip can help you with an easier return.
  5. When filling out your credit card number, make sure that the address in the browser window starts with https or shttp. This means the information is being encrypted.
  6. Research the company before you buy. Do a Google search on the name and check the Better Business Bureau for any complaints.
