I plan my vacation in stages. The first step is finding decent prices for airline tickets. (Well really the first step is to find a quick weight loss solution so that I look good on my vacation!) The second step is to book the rental car. Then I look for hotels that I will need.
This year I am going to be flying into a central airport and driving to two different cities. Since I will need a rental car anyway, this option saves me about $200 per ticket. When you add up the four tickets that I have to buy, that is a saving of $800. Well worth the extra time I will have to spend on the road!
