With Halloween approaching, I was thinking about the scariest things that ever happened to me. There was the time when I was in a hotel room and I swear that there was a ghost in there as well (my husband swears it’s true too) and the time I was flashed when walking to the college campus in the early morning hours. But, I think the scariest thing was coming home after school one evening and finding that my house had been broken into.
We were just renting and hadn’t invested in dead bolts or wireless alarms and the thieves had busted in through the back door. My dog was scared and there was a little bit of a mess. We called the police and they came immediately. We actually found most of the stuff in the dumpster in the alley way of our home. The thieves were teenagers and had no way to transport the stolen goods, so they dumped it, hoping to return later to get their rewards. They got their reward alright, the police caught up with them.
After that, I really never did feel safe in that home. What is your scariest story?

This happened back in high school: my friend and I were walking across the street to his grandparents’ house late one night. There was a full moon so we could see well. Suddenly we heard this scraping noise and turned to see this tall, black-clad person with a huge hood over his head right behind us dragging some sort of metal pole! As crazy as it sounds, it looked just like the Grim Reaper! My friend and I took off running and screaming. We raced to my sister’s house, which was next door to his grandparents’ house, only to almost plow into my sister on her porch. She was laughing hysterically. She had been hiding in the bushes watching as my brother in law, dressed in her long black winter coat with the huge fuzzy hood, scared the life out of two teenagers!
