I always find fun things to blog about over at TwitterMoms, and today was no different! It is the little things in life that matter and if you are worried about your health and your families health, you can try and make changes by taking baby steps. Here are ten ways that help me and my family lead and healthier and happier lifestyle.
- Go outside. Now that the weather is warmer, I insist that my kids (and me too!) spend at least 1/2 hour outside just playing. That 1/2 hour often turns into one to two hours.
- Avoid soda. I rarely purchase soda at the store. I let my kids have it when we are out occasionally, but I try not to purchase it for the home on a regular basis.
- Kid time. We try and spend individual time with each of our three children. They love having one and one time with mom or dad.
- Drink more water. I am really bad at this, but one of my daughters is trying to help me by drinking more water herself. I was often plagued with headaches as a teen and I believe it was because I wasn’t hydrated enough.
- Go organic. We have tried to switch to some organic products. I know it can be expensive, but milk and beef contain estrogens that are especially harmful for girls.
- Do something you love. Find a passion or a hobby and work on it daily, even if it is just for 10 minutes. My kids love trying new craft projects and activities.
- Balance Your Meals. At dinner time, I really try and have at least one vegetable. It is difficult with picky eaters, but I work with what they like.
- Early to bed. When the kids stay up late, it shows the next day. Our bedtimes can be flexible, but I know that if I let them stay up too late, I will pay for it the next day!
- Plan Meals. I find that if I plan my meals ahead of time, I do much better fixing healthier meals.
- Just relax! When the going gets rough, take 10 minutes to just sit and relax. It will energize you.
Speaking of healthy foods, my kids love Tropicana Orange Juice and they have a new Juicy Rewards Program. When you buy Tropicana you will find a unique code on the package.
