What are your Thanksgiving traditions? We had a few growing up, but some I have not passed on to my children and now I feel that I need to. The first tradition that I almost always follow is to make Monkey Bread. This is not the Monkey Bread that you might commonly see with cinnamon and sugar. This bread was an old southern recipe that used a potato dough. I don’t use the potato dough anymore, but I still roll out the dough, cut it with a simple cookie cutter, dip it in butter and place in a bundt pan. The bread is baked and easy to pull apart when ready to eat.

The second tradition that I want to do this year is to make pies from scratch (my mom would have never bought a store pie) and then roll out the extra pie dough, spread with butter, add cinnamon and sugar and roll up. These rolls are then cut into 1/4″ slices and baked. We used to look forward to these sweet treats when my mom was baking pies.
The third tradition that I have followed through the years was to watch football. My dad is an avid sports fan and Thanksgiving wouldn’t be a holiday without a little football.
