I posted a couple of weeks ago that me and the kids took the train to NYC to visit Build-A-Bear Workshop, met Jamia Nash, and built some bears.
Build-A-Bear Workshop unveiled a special Peace, Love and Hugs bear to help them announce their campaign to donate to Save the Children. If you visit Build-A-Bear Workshop’s main website and donate $1 to Save the Children and you will receive a free download of the song Let’s Talk About Love performed by Jamia or by a couple of other artists (including David Archuleta).
My kids and I took the train from New Jersey to NYC (we rode in a double-decker train) and then rode the subway to Build-A-Bear Workshop. [photopress:babw_train.jpg,full,pp_image]
They had a party room all decked out for us and other mom bloggers and Jamia Nash joined us for autographs and pictures. [photopress:babw_party_room.jpg,full,pp_image][photopress:babw_jamia.jpg,full,pp_image][photopress:babw_jamia_noah.jpg,full,pp_image]Rachel asked Jamia about how she liked acting in the movie August Rush and learned that Jamia had to get up at 5:00am and it was really cold filming in Central Park!
We received gift cards and Rachel and Noah each made a special animal. [photopress:babw_noah_train.jpg,full,pp_image][photopress:babw_rachel_bear.jpg,full,pp_image]We also made one for their sister who was away at camp (we made her an Owl and called him Twilight!). We had so much fun! At the end of the event, I received a $25 Build-A-Bear Workshop Gift Card to giveaway to one lucky reader!

It’s odd, I went to the site and the most recent pledge was Maya in the United States pledged to give a hug today….my daughter’s name is Maya – but I hadn’t done it yet! My Maya pledged to promote peace by learning about another country. I’d like to add that we will make a friend in another country. I think one of the best ways to encourage peace through understanding is to form friendships with others in different countries.
