I have never had a reclining chair in my house. I have always wanted one. I want to be able to sit in a chair, by myself, with my feet up. I love snuggling with my kids, but sometimes I just need a little space of my own. If I were to get myself a recliner, it would be a wall-hugger recliner like this Chocolate Microfiber Recliner from Wholesale Furniture Brokers. First, I just love the feel of Microfiber. Second, this is a nice big chair, so if I have to share my space, I will at least have some room.

This recliner comes with a recessed external handle making it easy to open and close the reclining mechanism. There are plush pillow arms and a broad pillow back. This chair just screams comfort! If you don’t like the color chocolate, this chair is also available in light brown, beige and sage.

I am always looking for space saving ideas for my home.  One idea is to build a corner headboard for my daughter’s room.  This would free up some space in her room.  I found these great ideas on the internet.  Now I will just have to figure out how to make one!

I never consider how much lighting I need in a living space, I usually am just looking for pretty lights and fixtures! However, if an area of your house seems too dim, you can easily calculate the lumens per square foot to determine if you need more light.

First, determine the square footage of the area by multiplying the length by width of the room. Second, look at the package that your light bulbs came in and determine the total number of lumens (if you have one light bulb, it is the number on the box, if two or more light bulbs, add them together.) Now divide the total lumens by the square footage to determine the lumens per square foot.

A hallway does not need as much light and can do with 7 to 8 lumens per square foot. A kitchen should have about 35 lumens per square foot. Living Rooms and Bed Rooms require about 15 lumens per square foot. Some light fixtures only take a certain bulb wattage so you may need to add more light fixtures to get a well lit room.

I predict that the final Super Bowl score will be: Green Bay packers 24, Pittsburgh Steelers 21. I think it will be a pretty close game. I could be wrong though! I really like the quarterback for the Packers – Aaron Rodgers. I watched the game when the Packers beat the Atlanta Falcons and Rodgers looked fantastic. I think if the Packers come out strong, the Steelers might have a hard time defensively against them. But, don’t count the Steelers out. They came from behind for a big win in the playoffs. We have white leather modern furniture. White leather does not do well with kids. It gets dirty easy and is hard to clean. I had some slipcovers on them, but they were bulky and basically ugly! So I decided to try some Sure Fit covers. I found them at Bed, Bath & Beyond. The are dark brown, with a faux leather feel. They go much better with my decor and the fit tighter than the old slipcovers. If you have leather furniture with the pillow type arms, just be forewarned that there really aren’t any slipcovers that fit snugly. Here is what I got:

Like I said, mine don’t fit as snug, but I like them all the same!

I am thinking about installing some new Minka Aire fans since the weather is warming up. I really don’t want to use the air conditioning a lot this summer. It is costing me way too much. So I need advice. What do you do to keep cool in the summer? I have heard that installing white windows shades or blinds helps reflect the heat away from the house. Keep the blinds closed when the sun is streaming in and open them when the sun is on the other side of the house.
