What was your favorite Christmas gift this year? I was thrilled that I was able to get a Kindle for Christmas and a gift card to go along with it. Although I would love to throw out all my new furniture and opt for some new modern furniture this year for Christmas, it just isn’t in the budget. I find it hard to shop for the men in my life because they always buy what they need when they need it. This year, I am trying to make a list of things that I could get that they don’t already have. Here is what I came up with so far:

• Car, motorcycle, boat or ATV Accessories. There is always some little gadget that they could use.
• Movies. We don’t have time to go to the movies very often. Review the movies that were popular this past year and buy a few.
• Dinner. A favorite restaurant gift certificate is always a good option.
• Hobbies. You might not be able to pick out the right item, but a gift card to their favorite hobby store would be awesome!
• Food. Do they love a particular kind of food or drink? Make up a nice gift basket.

Some women love flowers! Personally, I do like them, and it is the thought that counts, but picking up the phone and just having a flower delivery is not just enough. If you want to give flowers, here are a few ways to make it more personal:

• Find out their favorite flower and make sure it is included.
• Send a hand written card too!
• Choose a simple gift to be given before or after the flowers are delivered.
• Deliver the flowers personally!

One of my favorite films is Field of Dreams. I love the part where the young baseball player, Archibald ‘Moonlight’ Graham (played by Burt Lancaster), steps off the field to return to being a doctor and saves Ray Kinsella’s daughter Karen.

I love that doctors used to carry doctor bags stocked with their medical equipment. You just don’t see this anymore. If you know a young doctor that is just finishing up medical school, a doctor bag would be a fun, nostalgic gift to give!
