Coming on June 24, 2011 to a theater near you is the newest version of Cars – Cars 2. But before the movie is released, you can start playing the video game which is scheduled to be released on June 21, 2011.

Cars 2: The Video Game is available on Wii, XBox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS and PC/Mac. Jump into the world of Cars 2 and take on your favorite Cars personalities in locations around the globe. You will train to become an agent of C.H.R.O.M.E. (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations & Motorized Espionage) and take on dangerous missions. You will be able to use your spy skills in combat racing and compete to become the fastest racecar in the world.

You can choose to be one of 20 characters including Lightening McQueen and Mater the tow truck, or take on one of the new spy personalities. Missions take place in 6 location around the world. Fun for the whole family!

iPhone: Verizon vs. AT&T

Now that Verizon has added the apple iphone to its gaggle of phone offers, many are wondering if the iPhone performs better with Verizon or if sticking with AT&T is a better option. CNET performed a variety of tests and came to this conclusion: the iPhone is better with Verizon.

For the most part, Verizon’s Upload/Download, Photo Upload and Web Loading speeds were much better with Verizon. Of course, they only tested the phone in four areas of San Francisco, so results could be different in different cities. These results could change significantly once more customers are added to Verizon’s network potentially slowing it down.

The best advice is to ask friends and neighbors which plan they use and how they feel their service is before making a choice between networks.

What To Look For In a Digital Camcorder

A big hit this holiday season are digital camcorders. We are getting rid of our old tape and disc camcorders and upgrading to digital. What are the features that you need in a digital camcorder?

Resolution – While the picture gets better with higher resolution, the storage space increases as well. A 720p camera can hold about 1 hour on a 2GB card, while a 1080p camera can hold about half that. You will need to carry more media for the higher resolution camcorders.
Recording Media – You can still purchase digital camcorders that record on DVDs, Minidv or Hard Drives. I would opt for the memory cards (SD, memory sticks). Simple to use and easy to transfer to your computer.
Zoom – There are two types of zoom, optical and digital. Optical zoom uses the lens to zoom, while digital zoom uses electronics to focus on the image. You will loose image quality with digital zoom, but it is also less expensive.
Still Shots – most digital camcorders also take still shots. Make sure you check out the megapixel for the still shot. Low megapixel will give you lower quality pictures.

Should I Get A Smart Phone?

I have been debating about getting a smart phone. I just hate to pay the data charges every month, but they are so convenient. I know I don’t want to get an iPhone, since I want my carrier to remain with Verizon. But other than that, I don’t know which one would be better. Do you have a smart phone? Do you like it?

I recently started trying to post from my iPod, but the screen is just too small. So instead I tried borrowing my daughter’s laptop, but she needs it sometimes and I can’t get access. My computer is tucked away in a corner of the house and I don’t like to spend my time out there. I think I might research the new netbooks. The advantages are that they are small, very portable and inexpensive. The cons are that they only do limited functions and the processing speed is not as fast as a laptop.

Does anyone have experience with these new netbooks?

Bugsby’s Great Adventures

VTech has some great products and the newest product is awesome! The Bugsby Reading System is a pen that can be used with a special book. The pen allows a child to touch parts of the book to have the story read to them, or interact in other ways.

You can also make your own story online with Bugsby. My six year old son and I headed over to VTech’s site and made our own space adventure story. It was fun and so easy to do. You can choose characters, speech bubbles and items to create your very own unique story.

My son had so much fun creating one story and, if I had let him, he would have created stories all day. He loved how easy it was to add items to his story and his imagination really started to soar. My family is also big sci-fi fans and we were excited to learn that that Dyson D25 was used in the making of the new Transformers film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The vacuum actually transforms into a robot!

I have always been impressed with JVC products and this one is no exception. JVC has three different Everio Camera models:

JVC Everio S Series – This series shoots standard definition video just like the G Series, but instead of a hard drive the camcorder comes with two storage options: dual SD/SDHC memory slots, or one slot and 16GB of built-in flash memory. The best feature – continuous recording. When one memory medium is full, the camera automatically switches to the other!

JVC Everio HD Series – High definition video is the feature of this model. There are both hard drive and memory HD models so you can choose the option that you want.

All of these cameras are small and lightweight.

Looking for a New MP3 Player

My daughter’s MP3 Player died and now I am looking for a new one. I don’t want to spend a lot of money, but I want one that has a decent amount of memory and has an expansion slot (such as an micro sd card). She would really like to get an iPod Touch but that is just out of our price range.

Any suggestions?
