The Green Teen

The Green Teen

I have a teenage daughter who is concerned about the planet.  She hears scary terms like global warming and carbon dioxide emissions and she starts to believe that things are beyond her control.

Not so.  Now there is a new book for teens entitled The Green Teen: The eco-friendly teen’s guide to saving the planet.  The book was written by Jenn Savedge, a full-time mom, environmentalists and author.  Jenn was a former Park Ranger and has travelled the United States learning about the environment.  She also blogs at The Green Parent.

The book talks about the tough subjects: global warming, air pollution, deforestation and sweatshops, but also gives great tips for teens to help green the planet in their own space.  Included are Green Yourself, Green Your Home, Green Your School and Green Your World.

Some of her tips include the easy (Bring your own bag) to the much more difficult for some teens (read labels and buy recycled).  This book would be a great edition to any high school or middle school environmental club!

I was really impressed with the layout of the book and how easy and interesting it was to read.  Not only are there great tips, but links to many resources as well.

The book was published on May 1, 2009 and is available from Amazon.   This is a great resource for anyone, not just teens!
