I love to read. Not just one genre, but all different kinds of books. Often I read two or more books at one time. I always have one in the car and one in the house. My car book for the past two weeks has been Once in a Blue Moon by Eileen Goudge. I received this book free in the mail (courtesy of One2One Network and Vanguard Press) and was asked to write my review.
I was sad that I choose this as my car book because the book was one that I couldn’t put down. Since I only read in my car when I am waiting for my kids to either get out of school or finish their activities, I found myself leaving my house extra early to get in more reading time. While I would consider this book light reading, the story line was very compelling and the characters very well developed.
The story involves two sisters, separated at a young age and put in foster homes. One of the sisters (Lindsay) gets adopted by a wonderful couple and grows up in a secure and happy environment. The second sister (Kerrie Ann), is shuffled from foster home to foster home, ends up addicted to drugs and loses the custody of her six year old daughter. When the two sisters find each other, each are struggling with a problem in their lives and the bond them form help each sister to become stronger, more accepting, and supportive of one another.
The story has a happy ending for both sisters. Having sisters of my own, I love to read stories that involve that sister relationship. If you are looking for a great story about relationships and overcoming hardships, this is a great read.
