I recently read Emma & Me and even though it wasn’t what I expected, I loved it! Thanks for the giveaway!
I am participating in Bloggy Giveways! Hundreds of Bloggers will participate and will be giving away items on their blogs.
I am going to be giving away FIVE prizes. You will need to check back each day to see the new prize. The second prize is an AMAZON GIFT CARD for $10. I love to read and Amazon is one of my favorite places to get new books. Some of my recent favorites include:
[photopress:guernsey_book.jpg,full,pp_image]The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society – Written in the form of letters, the tale is sweet and intriguing. Juliet Ashton, writes to her publisher looking for a new assignment, hoping to stop writing about World War II. Instead she finds a different war story when a farmer from Guernsey finds her name in a used book and writes to her.
[photopress:sisters_grimm_book.jpg,full,pp_image]The Fairy Tale Detectives (The Sisters Grimm, Book 1) (Bk. 1) – My nine year old daughter started reading this book, so I read it too. A very cute tale about two sisters (related to the Grimm brothers) who must keep all the fairy tale creatures in line. Interestingly, the fairy tale creatures all live in New York! There are seven books in this series now.
How to enter:
Leave a comment on this blog telling me what book you recently read and if you liked it. Make sure that you leave an email address so that I can contact you if you win. OPEN to anyone who can get Amazon to ship to them! CONTEST ENDS February 1st, 11:59pm, ET. I will be drawing the winner on February 2nd.

I’m in the middle of reading “Brisinger” – the third book in the Eragon series. I’m only half way through unfortunately – as in reading it I learned that thanks to becoming middle-aged – my arms were no longer long enough to read comfortably – sigh. I have bifocals now & am picking up where I left off!
I did NOT like the first 20 or so pages of this book. In fact, I put it aside thinking I would probably not finish it. My son read it and encouraged me to read a little further. It is a good book, just a little too dry for the first 50 or so pages.

The book I most recently finished was Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz, and I really liked it. It was weird to go to the circus after reading about the crazy stuff that went on in the book though lol

I just received an advance copy of “The Writing on My Forehead” by Nafisa Haji. It is a wonderful story of a Muslim child raised in the United States whose family still follows the traditions and customs of their home country.

My son and I just recently finished reading “The ClassRoom at the end of the hall” by Douglas Evans together. We throughly enjoyed it, so much so we have already been looking on amazon and it looks like Mr. Evans has written a sequel to this book and I would love to surprise him with gettng it for him.
A year ago I couldn’t get my son to pick up a book, he hated it. We went through many MANY books before we found one that put that adventureous sole into him. He finally figured out the wonderful adventure your brain can take you. Today he is reading just about daily and we are really enjoying doing it together.
Thank you for the opportunity to win this nice $10 Amazon, it would be put to good use. Have a great weekend The Shopping Duck.

“Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry†by Stacy Malkan, which is very eye-opening and needs to be read by everyone in my opinion.

Parenting Surviving to Thriving…I think it’s by Charles Swindoll (but I’m not sure). There’s a Bible study book that goes along with it. It’s great!
Thanks!

I recently finished Invisible Touch by Kelly Parra. I really enjoyed it because I could connect with the main character, and because of the mystery and paranormal elements.
