May 10 Ugrade Your Video Card
When your kids start playing online and computer video games, they will soon be begging you for the latest and greatest video card. If you follow these steps, you will find the perfect card for you.
- What will you be using it for? Video cards range in price from $30-40 to almost $1000! If you want to play the latest video games, you may have to spend a little more than you would to just use your computer for email and browsing the web. Check the games you want to purchase and see if they have any recommendations or minimum requirements.
- Find the slot you will be using. If you have a newer computer, you may have a PCI Express or AGP slot. Older computers may only have a regular PCI slot. Check your computer manuals for information.
- Do some research on chip makers (a video card comes with a graphics processing unit (GPU) that is on the card) and video card manufacturers. Look for recommendations from others who are using the card for the same functions that you want.
Finding the right video card can be confusing. Don’t forget to ask questions!

You really want to do a lot of research on the card you are looking for. I bought one 2 years ago because it was cheep and I was told it was a good card. It ended up not being what I really needed and caused my computer to crash when playing games.
The moral, talk to someone who actually knows something about video cards, not someone who thinks they do.
