I bought the program Hooked on Phonics for my son when he was four. It was probably one of the best investments I ever made. He is now five and will start Kindergarten in September and he is reading really well! The first step is learning the letters (both upper and lower case). Next you move on to letter sounds and then putting those sounds together to make words. The materials are well made and easy to use. I have recommended this product to all my friends!
