Have you ever bought a new DVD player, television, stereo sound system or other electronic equipment only to find that you don’t have the right cables? Cables are not always included with the item you purchase. If you want to get your new system up and running with very few hassles, follow these simple rules.

1. Write down the makes and models of all the equipment that will be connected together. Let the sales person know what equipment you are trying to connect and ask for suggestion.
2. Do research ahead of time. Do you know what a HDMI or DVI connector is? Research the product you are thinking about buying and learn the terminology.
3. Make sure you ask what is included with the new equipment and what you will need to purchase additionally.
4. Involve your school age children who probably know more about the stuff than you do!
