Term life insurance is a policy that usually lasts for 20 years. Each year you pay a premium. If you should die within that 20 year period, your beneficiaries get the full benefit of the value of the policy. After 20 years, you can renew the policy and continue the monthly payments. Even though my husband has insurance at work, it is minimal, so we added an additional policy for him. I also picked up one for myself.
